The Chinese Heritage Museum of Johor Bahru

Let's take a walk down memory lane and learn a little bit about
the Chinese Heritage of Johor.

It may not look like much from the outside,
but the stories and history in it is priceless.

This museum opened in late 2009. It is housed at a 4 storey building previously the JB Tiong-Hua Association since 1948. It is located along Jalan Ibrahim, facing JB's famous water front.
Entry to this museum is charged RM 5 per person. However, for students and senior citizens it is only RM 2.

This four story building has state-of-the-art modern technology for energy saving and uses sensors for the lighting at every floor.
The first, second and third floor showcases the history of the Chinese immigrants into Malaya from 1800-1900 - the founding of the triads, clans and eventually the associations of the ethnic Chinese area groups (Hokkien, TeoChew, Cantonese, Hainanese, and Hakka).
The museum also displays photos and records of the livelihood when early Chinese immigrants first arrived at the peninsula to find jobs.

The top floor of the museum is specified to exhibit the chronicle of Dr Sun Yat Sen (18666-1925), the father of republican China. He was known to visit Johor Bahru during his many travels overseas to appeal for support and funds to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and Manchu ruler.
